Back to Black
Dark was always considered daring and a temporary trends, however, using black or darker colours in any room is proving to be increasing popularity. The dark against a light contrast can create a stunning kitchen that, if designed correctly, will create a warm and spacious room that offers a functional and easy-to-navigate style.
Use one dark colour throughout for seamless units against contrasting white walls and light coloured floors. This enables you to use lighting and layout to create your desired design with accent colours to 'lift' if needed.
Grey Area
meaning: an area or part of something existing between two extremes and having mixed characteristics of both
If you are looking for a modern kitchen with a slightly traditional twist, then grey and wood can be the solution. Use streamlined units that have an outline to display clean and creativity with light marble work tops and splash back.
Use against a darker grey wall and complimentary floor, such as large granite or porcelain tiles, to add a feeling of strength and intrigue - a great way to have the best of both designs.
Wonderful Wood
Wood is always high in our consideration when designing any style of kitchen. Whether traditional or modern, wood is so versatile and durable for any style.
The options are limited to your own imagination when using wood. From colour to texture, layout to lighting ... you can really create a modern kitchen that reflects, not only your home, but your personality too.
To keep a wooden driven kitchen contemporary, use clean lines, no handles, and consistent textures - this creates the feel of a calm and serene ambience and definitely on trend for the next few years.
Total Texture
Wow your family and visitors with a creative contemporary kitchen... One of the benefits of designing a modern kitchen is that it allows for experimenting and using a variety of materials. From glass to granite, metal to wood - the options are endless. Add a splash of colour in a feature wall and you have a beautiful kitchen that's the envy of your friends (and social followers!).
If you are looking at creating space - glass, full length, cabinets and functional units will show depth and allow for ease of use throughout. Add a touch of the industrial vibe by using metal and soften the feel with wood either as drawer fronts or flooring.

Open it Up
We can't write a blog without mentioning open plan kitchens... this trend is continuing to be popular, especially with new builds in the Devon area.
Consider simple, matt colours against a softer, textured wood and you have a beautiful area of your home that oozes functionality as well as comfort. Use low hanging lights to highlight the main areas of the room, such as the hob and dining area - this is also a great way of adding subliminal separation.
Beautifully Bold
If you want to add intrigue to your kitchen and have the ability to change with the trends then bold is a great way to go. Block colours, textures and units create curiosity especially if you use strong colours.
Blue is a fantastic staple colour, and combined with a kindred wood texture, against simple white units can reflect your personality - are you adventurous? If so, consider this distinctive kitchen your next quest.
Modern Modular
If you are creating a modern kitchen in a smaller space, modular is key. Use carefully designed shelving, versatile units that can be doubled up as tables as well as work tops and hidden cabinets.
You can still be imaginative and dark colours can be a way to add curiosity to a bijou kitchen. Again, textures are an ideal solution - use metal and wood throughout to provide an exaggerated contrast. To add a vibrant touch, this darker base allows you to bring in bright colours with your accessories, splash back tiles and/or walls.
